<image:caption>Reciprocity: BOGO with a twist. I wanted to focus less on the seller's objective to sell another frisbee and more on why a consumer would need to purchase two frisbees. I landed on the very relatable feeling of getting a frisbee stuck in a tree. If you have two the game can go uninterrupted!</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Advertisement</image:title>
<image:caption>Authority: I wanted to veer away from the typical tropes of using someone of power or influence such as a doctor or celebrity and instead highlight how long the Frisbee corporation has been in business. Reading that they have been serving their customers since 1957 speaks to their validity and authority just as well.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Advertisement</image:title>
<image:caption>Humor: Ads that can make someone laugh are powerful. I enjoy adding humor in all of my ads but this one was specially made to persuade the consumer to purchase using humor. Again I used relatability, people want to see themselves in Ads. We all have had the displeasure of knowing someone personally or through someone else the Ex character of this ad and can collectively roll our eyes.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Fear: Evoking fear with frisbees can be difficult but not impossible. This Ad strategically takes a fearful situation and offers comfort and support.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Advertisement</image:title>
<image:caption>Beauty: I incorporated my illustrative style lightly in this Ad to accentuate typical or stereotypical standards of beauty expected in ads but with a dog. Reading the Ad one can interpret the dog to be the catch or take it as a compliment which is encouraged. Flattery tends to sell and our target audience are both pets and humans so it's an all around win.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Advertisement</image:title>
<image:caption>Words: This Ad was to only use words and could not rely on illustrations or photography. I use the weight and size of the text to guide the reader in between the lines. The Ad can be read from top to bottom and be presumed as a humorous AD but one can also read where the eyes gravitate to which is the red text to get a different message. The circle behind the text might not seem to be serving any other purpose but aesthetic but it in fact is an abstract visual cue of a pregnant stomach with the belly button being the dot on top of the “i” in the word frisbee.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Another layer of colonization this project fights is environmental issues. By making sure it is created in a durable way that allows for the use of whiteboard markers on it, makes the book long-lasting and gets an infinite amount of use out of it. The workbook is currently geared towards teens and adults who want to learn more about the Amharic language and how to write it. The very first step in learning almost any language is learning the alphabet.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Work Book & Typeface</image:title>
<image:caption>This book utilizes vibrant colors as an aesthetic choice, homage to the Ethiopian flag, as well as a practical organization method. The letters are personified to be members of a community/ town because community is a core value for many Ethiopians. It also helps to make connections with the letters to better understand why a letter looks the way it does. The book focuses on the psychological methods of learning and strives to move away from traditional methods that heavily rely on memorization. Traditional methods of learning Amharic consist of reciting the sound of the letter repeatedly while looking at a list of the alphabets in order. This proves to be tedious and has a short retention time, making for an overall slow learning process. This book shifts the teaching method from memorization, which is associated with short-term memory, to visual cues, associations, colors, and more which is linked with long-term memory. Although some level of memorization is still needed in this book, it is a dramatically less amount. The goal is to have a solid connection with each letter in the alphabet rather than having to rely on memory-based recognition. This workbook will ensure a solid foundation for an empowering journey in an easy and playful manner.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Grant Award 2020 - Impact Grant Award</image:title>
<image:caption>The 2020 Summer Impact Grant called for School of Design undergraduate students to imagine, develop, and deploy cutting-edge visual and interactive designs that have a positive cultural or social impact. My teammates of 4 and I developed a Toolkit for an Anti-Racist Community that facilitates dialogue and creates spaces for addressing difficult and uncomfortable issues with a conversation card deck; educates and empowers by establishing an online database and a community-run network of resources, and creates awareness and action with a line of wearables that advocate for social justice. My part in the team was to create the packing design for the cards as well as design half the cover of the cards. My inspiration for the introspect and inquire card along with the theme of the cards was a mixture of tarot cards and playing cards. Looking back I had never seen prominent black figures on any card and wanted to create one. Taking inspiration from the queen and king cards of a playing card I created a black queen and kind. Because we were also addressing Covid and race-related awareness I have feeding tubes around the man to talk about black mortality rates in America and gave the Black Power fists to speak on the important BLM movement.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Kiba K9 was a client based in New York. They service dog owners who seek dog behavioralists and training specialists. Kiba K9 prides themselves in the beautiful bonds they create between the dogs and their owners. They didn't have a logo so they took me on to design one for them. This is one example of the many presentations I gave the owner of the company while finalizing the design.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Logo Design</image:title>
<image:caption>The first step in drafting logos is getting to know the client. Kiba and I had extensive conversations about his values what he wants the logo to represent. after doing 5 different types of logos he settled on this one. I then did even more iterations of just this style until he loved the results. There are subtleties in how the dog ears are suggested and the placement of the word "K9" in each of these.</image:caption>

They spend a lot of time in nature and therefore see the value in preserving it. For that reason, they use products that give back to the Earth and are mindful of its needs. The secondary audience would be classified as casual hammock people who are interested in a fun and unique way to relax and. experience nature.</image:caption>
